Alex is a highly strategic investigator whose work is grounded in an empathetic, trauma-informed practice. As a Manager of Investigations, Alex provides strategic oversight of Barker Hutchinson’s regulatory investigations in addition to maintaining her own smaller caseload.

Before joining Barker Hutchinson, Alex practised as a registered nurse, with a focus on mental health, and she worked as an investigator with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. She is committed to a rigorous search for clarity and fairness in each investigation.

Her wide-ranging experience includes workplace investigations for hospitals, banks, arts organizations, long-term care facilities, and multinational corporations.

Before joining Barker Hutchinson, Angela conducted a broad range of workplace investigations and maintained a broad criminal and civil litigation practice that included representing accused persons and complainants alike in sexual assault and harassment cases.

Ashley practised in the Health Law and Sexual Assault/Abuse practice groups at a prominent Toronto law firm prior to joining Barker Hutchinson. Ashley also previously practised in the Arbitration and Investigations group at another international law firm.

Chantelle practiced criminal law for nearly ten years before joining Barker Hutchinson, representing clients with a wide range of offenses, from minor theft to first degree murder at all levels of Court in Ontario. Her passion for solving complex problems is grounded in her rigorous search for clarity and truth.

Courtney is a mediator, workplace and regulatory investigator and Manager of Investigations who provides strategic oversight to investigations in addition to maintaining her own smaller caseload of investigations and mediations. She approaches each matter with sensitivity, curiosity, and a commitment to efficiency, high-quality and thoroughness.

Before joining Barker Hutchinson, Courtney practised employment and labour law at two prominent Toronto law firms and held several senior positions with health regulatory bodies. She also draws on her expertise as a mediator to approach complex cases with creative problem-solving.

As our Co-CEO, Greg oversees Barker Hutchinson’s business development and financial performance while being steadfastly dedicated to building and supporting a sophisticated team of investigators who share his commitment to fairness, precision and sensitivity.

Greg has conducted hundreds of investigations on a broad range of complex concerns for both employers and regulators. He frequently provides investigative training to employers and regulators across Canada and assists with the development and implementation of investigative policy and process. Greg is also the Administrator of Workplace Investigator Network on LinkedIn, where he facilitates a space for professionals to come together to share knowledge, engage in professional development, and elevate the standards of our industry.

Before joining Barker Hutchinson, Julie worked as a clinical research coordinator at McMaster University, where she collaborated on numerous research studies around rehabilitation treatment and wellbeing for children with cerebral palsy.

Keith worked in finance and human resources, including serving as the director of human resources at a large manufacturing and distribution company, before joining Barker Hutchinson. He has a deft eye for opportunity and is experienced in successfully building people, teams, and processes through periods of growth and change.

Kristin Eliot

Kristin draws on a wealth of experience as a workplace and regulatory investigator, labour and employment lawyer, mediator, and arbitrator to conduct thorough, empathetic, trauma-informed investigations. She values being able to improve the quality and dynamics of the workplace by addressing issues in crisis and identifying systemic issues before they escalate. Kristin is also an experienced workplace mediator, providing both evaluative and interest-based alternative dispute resolution services. Her mediation expertise assists clients in achieving individualized, lower-cost solutions to workplace conflicts, avoiding formal complaint processes and litigation.

Before joining Barker Hutchinson, Kristin practised for over twenty years as a labour and employment lawyer, with a focus on workplace investigations. She is a rostered investigator with the Government of Ontario and conducts workplace investigations across a range of provincial government ministries.

Lara is an award winning, results-driven Business Growth expert with over 30 years experience as a global keynote speaker, workshop facilitator, business mentor and fractional CMO. In essence, she teaches businesses how to disrupt their industry and become the ONLY choice for their customers instead of ‘one of many’.

She’s advised multinationals like Johnson & Johnson, Kraft, Shell and Pfizer as well as small businesses around the world. Her advice has been published in International media outlets like CNBC, CBS and The Chicago Tribune. A proud recipient of Connect Magazine’s Top 40 under 40 and Rejuvenate Magazine’s Top 40 under 40, Lara has also been bestowed the title of Industry Innovator by BizBash magazine, received the coveted Spirit of the Industry Award by the CEIA and is proud to have been honoured with Dedication & Leadership Awards by ILEA.

She graduated from Ivy Business School’s Executive Program, but it’s the title of Mom that brings Lara the most pride. When she’s not building lego with her son, she’s been known to board down active volcanoes, spelunk 16 stories underground, camp in -10 degree temps beside a glacier, bungee jump over a rainforest, swim with sharks and jump from a plane at 15,000 feet.

As our Co-CEO, Laura is responsible for the firm’s operations, policy and process design, and ensuring our executive team has the tools they need to effectively lead our sophisticated team of investigators. She draws on her extensive investigative experience and healthcare knowledge to lead our team in empathetic, trauma-informed practices that look beyond the surface to the underlying issues of each matter.

Laura practised as a physiotherapist for nearly a decade, treating private clients and elite athletes alike, before she joined Barker Hutchinson. She understands the nuances of working with individuals facing high-stakes situations, and she stewards a team that centers the human beings at the heart of each investigation.

His natural ability to put witnesses at ease allows him to conduct thorough and effective interviews. Rob’s methodical approach has helped him develop a reputation for resolving even the most complex cases.

Rob was a decorated sergeant and detective at Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) and also served as President of the Halton Regional Police Association (HRPA) before joining Barker Hutchinson.

Sarah draws on her experience as a human rights and Indigenous rights lawyer to conduct rigorous and balanced investigations with a trauma-informed approach. Before joining Barker Hutchinson, she maintained a sole practice and was the senior director of legal services at a national Indigenous organization, where she developed equity, diversity, and inclusion programs and spearheaded efforts to improve psychological safety in the workplace.

With experience in employment law complaints proceedings, including mediations, as well as in addressing complaints of harassment, including gender-based discrimination, Sarah is dedicated to advancing equity in the workplace and beyond.

Stephanie is an experienced regulatory investigator who navigates sensitive subjects with empathy and helps people feel heard. Her commitments to active listening and a rigorous pursuit of facts result in thorough, balanced, and impartial investigations.

Before joining Barker Hutchinson, Stephanie was a clinical investigator with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), and she practised as a registered nurse in both urban and rural settings in Eastern Canada, Northern Canada, and the United States.
